In todays current climate crime seems to only be getting worse. According to statistics by the Australian government in 2012 an estimated 17% (1,494,000) of all women aged 18 years and over had experienced sexual assault since the age of 15. A study released today in the Lancet medical journal says 16.4 per cent of women 15 years old or older in Australia and New Zealand have been the victim of sexual assault by someone who wasn’t their partner (i.e. other family members, friends, strangers). This compares to the global average of 7.2 per cent. As one can see the figures are staggering and its time women need to stop being victims by learning how to defend themselves to prevent an increase in these figures. Southside Academy of Combat will provide and arm women with the necessary skill for them to defend themselves accordingly. Time to wake up and fight back.
